I love harps and music. I started to learn the harp as an adult with my daughter. At that time, I worked full-time as a high school teacher here in Tokyo. I taught Japanese and Japanese literature while raising my daughter.
\nI loved my work, but coming home tired, I still had a lot to do every day. I was always busy. Looking back, it was a challenging time for me, and my focus was always on how to enjoy the precious time with my child and balance my life anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n

I lived<\/span> as if rushing, so I sometimes felt overwhelmed and exhausted. However, harps, music and natural sounds always helped and healed me.
\nLittle by little, I began to notice the healing power of sounds.
\nYes. I know how music can heal us deeply. <\/span>And I have been enjoying the harp for so many years now.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s so true that music, or simply sounds, can always help us feel better. And I think a harp is special as it rings with our body inside our arms when we play holding it. It rings exactly in front of our heart centre! We not only hear it ringing in our ears but also feel its overtone-rich sounds directly in our bodies, so we are naturally tuned in to its grace. We feel beauty in the sweet ripples and embrace harmony. Yes. We are in the Universe, vibrating here.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Playing the harp is like holding a tree and emitting our emotions, feelings, and what-so-ever something inside of us out to the Universe from our fingertips. You know, harps are made of wood!
\nTuning is needed whenever we play the harp, but I always feel as if I were beautifully tuned every time after playing the harp, and my body always feels refreshed.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

By the way, do you know there are so many types of harps?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Little by little, various harps came to me. Now I have six different harps: 1 tiny wire-strung harp with 12 strings from Scotland, three different kinds of small harps with 24~28 strings (made in Japan, France, and Germany), a Celtic harp with 34 strings (made by Lion&Healy in the US), and a pedal harp with 47 strings (also known as a “grand” harp) created by Japanese harp maker Aoyama. These harps I have are pretty different in many ways. Of course, I love them all. I’m always curious and love to explore various harps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding tunes, I love all kinds of music. And one of my favourites is Celtic music, which has beautiful melodies. Somehow it seems like I had loved Scottish, Irish, and Old English music since I was a little girl when I heard some of them for the first time. But I love any other music, too.
\nI’m always curious and love to explore the history of music and harps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now let’s talk about herbs and flowers. As I love nature, I’m always keen on learning about plants. I love wildflowers and herbs. I love green rolling hills and fields.
\nAnd I love to go and explore various gardens, too.
\nSo I used to learn about gardens and how to take care and grow plants: herbs, flowers and vegetables. I also learned to grow rice for three years in Tokyo with my daughter while she was growing. And it was my happy time being in Nature with her.
\nAlso, I’m interested in aromatherapy, flower essences and flower arrangement. It was my joy I could have had various opportunities to learn about plants before.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here, I want to use the word “Herbs” to symbolize the love for Nature and our deep connection to the Earth and the Universe. As you know, herbs have various scents. How nice that fragrance has a great power of healing and transformation, too!
\n<\/span>
\n<\/b><\/i><\/u><\/p>\n

[Stories]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Imagination and creativity are the wings and powers we have. We love empowerment, too.
\nAnd our words, poems and stories can give us these great powers. So let’s read, write and tell them!
\nI love the story world.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Harps, herbs and stories. These are my favourites and are indeed connected and match each other very well. Let’s work with them, and we can create a healing time and true empowerment, which are really important and needed in our world now.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
